This week, Chad Flatt of Pro Wrestling Weekly is joined as always by "The Man of 1,004 Nicknames" Johnny Kayfabe as they go back in time to August 26, 1996. This week was another turning point in The Monday Night War because for the first time since WCW began their ratings winning streak, they ran unopposed thanks to the WWF being preempted by US Open Tennis. Nitro eclipsed the 4.0 ratings mark for the first time as we were introduced to the 4th member of the nWo. The decade plus rivalry between the Rock & Roll Express and Four Horsemen continued with a tag team match featuring four legends of the squared circle. A future legend also made his Monday Nitro debut as a young white meat babyface named Chris Jericho made his first WCW TV appearance on Monday night. We are also promised to meet the 5th nWo member next week. The WWF's post SummerSlam momentum was halted and WCW took full advantage on this edition of Monday Is War!
Chad & Keila are back this week to once again examine the happenings around the world of professional wrestling over the past seven days. They talk all things WWE including Braun Strowman's latest superhuman feat of strength, the awesomeness that was John Cone falling out of the ring Monday night, the not so awesomeness of Enzo Amore, the emergence of a very unlikely new number one contender on Smackdown, a talented husband and wife duo possibly headed to WWE and what effect their arrival will have on Total Divas, new faces arriving in Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling and much more! They also discuss the unfortunate injury to a top Japanese star that has his career in doubt and has Chad skeptical of the value of "strong style" on a performer's longevity. They also take time to remember Matt Anoa'i, better known to WWE fans as Rosey, who passed away from congestive heart failure this past week. The older brother of Roman Reigns was a very talented and underappreciated big man who left his mark on the industry. It's another great thrill packed edition of Pro wrestling Weekly that's sure to fill your tummy with delicious pro wrestling nectar!
